Work at Chirag

We are looking for people to fill four senior positions in the organisation. Ideally, we’d like at least two of these positions to be filled by women.
The Team – Livelihood Support would be expected to lead the animal husbandry and sustainable agriculture teams. The candidate should have at least ten years of experience managing a team and should have an interest in rural livelihoods and in particular, issues pertaining to agriculture and integrated livestock development.
The Team Leader – Documentation, Communication and Alliances, will lead efforts within the organisation to improve documentation of our existing initiatives, to communicate with the external world including our partners and to help create alliances with other institutions. Given the diversity of our activities, this individual should be curious and with diverse interests.
The Doctor – Maternal and Child Health would be expected to provide curative services to women and children of the region. A General Physician – or any specialist willing to function as a GP is what is required.
The Team Leader – Preventive and Promotive Health will lead our efforts to mobilise Panchayats to plan for their health needs and to leverage services from the Government. A minimum of ten years working on issues pertaining to public health and a belief in decentralisation would be ideal.
We are looking for people with a minimum of 10 years of experience, a desire to live in a rural area, people who enjoy working in a team and a desire to help make a difference. In other words – nothing short of the ideal person! Most importantly, we are looking for people who wish to join the Chirag family. None of these positions are project based, in other words we want people willing to see this as a long term opportunity.
All the positions are based out of a small village called Simayal around 50 kilometres from Nainital, in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and none of them can support paying those EMI’s! Simple accommodation, a good primary school, basic health care facilities, a family of 150 people and spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks – for at least six months of the year should compensate for the relatively poor salary.
